I apologize for not posting in awhile. I have just recently finished a project for the film Hipster Holocaust, and that has been my main project for awhile. This image above is a mock up of a painting I have had in mind. I have been building up a collection of reference photos, I thought I would just throw something together in photoshop to reference. The girls will look very different, and none of them will be clothed. maybe a little underwear. I just needed to get the poses and flow together first before I can start, since I usually dont do more than one or two subjects in a painting.

My good friend Daisy Solis has been producing some awesomely strange and surreal art for years now. As a Hollywood native she has seen and experienced an ever changing culture for over 2 decades, where she has managed to hold her own, and become the talented artist she is today. We were both accepted into California Institute of the Arts in 2003 where we have grown together and greatly influenced each other to never stop creating. She loves to oil paint and work in mixed media, and is the next featured artist for the Matix 2011 t-shirt line for girls. Recently she has been putting together some interesting collages that will just blow your mind! If you love fashion, glamour, and hot chicks with bird masks (or even if you just love cats!) you have got to check it out!

Circa 2003-2004. I was going through some boxes, and I came upon a CD-R that had this old stuff on it. I am so happy that I didn’t throw it away! It lived through 3 cars, 4 moves, and 5 very hot cd melting summers. What started as a great find at the 99c store turned into a good project for a class at CalArts. I was trying to start a zine called “Monster Club”. I even had some sort of a manifesto written for it. After seeing it all for the first time in years, all my old ideals were coming back to me. It had lots of typos and repeated words, just like my essays I’m sure, but it got the point across. Finding it makes me want to start working on it again. This dopey coloring book with one drawing per page struck my imagination and sense of humor. I even framed some of them and put them in a group show, which led to a few sales.
Since I am in a good mood, and my boyfriend has awesome internet connection I will share with you the “manifesto” (mind you I was OBSESSED with Jim Henson at the time):
Thanks for reading! Heres another little treat to help get you through the day:

Time for me to sit down and reflect with my favorite mug,
and my favorite tea.
Both making me feel good since 1988.
